I feel like I have a million main dishes in my bag of tricks, but always struggle to find interesting side dishes to round out a meal. Enter this Spicy Sesame Ginger Grilled Broccolini.
If you regularly grill (or roast – that would work too) veggies, zhoosh them up with this easy Asian-ish dressing. The jalapeno, sesame, ginger and lime transform your standard grilled veggies into something much more interesting.
This is absolutely one of those recipes that seems more thoughtful and time consuming than it actually is since it’s not everyday that we serve Asian-ish grilled broccolini, but it comes together in 15 minutes and no one ever needs to know how easy it was.
I served with my Teriyaki Chili Salmon and am still daydreaming about this pair.

Spicy Sesame Ginger Grilled Broccolini
Top grilled broccolini (or any veggie, for that matter) with this zesty, Asian-inspired dressing.
Ingredients
- 1 lb broccolini
- 2 tbsp olive oil, plus more for grilling
- 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 1 jalapeno, chopped, seeded and stems removed
- 1-2 tsp ginger paste or fresh ginger
- 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
- 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
- salt and fresh ground pepper to taste
Instructions
-
Preheat grill to high heat. Toss broccolini in a bit of olive oil to coat. Grill the broccolini until tender and preferred level of charred, about 5-10 minutes.
-
Mix all ingredients in a bowl and add salt and pepper to taste. If you prefer a completely smooth dressing, pulse in a blender, but I prefer to keep the chunky texture of the jalapenos and sesame seeds. Pour over top of the broccolini.
Recipe Notes
I served with my Teriyaki Chili Salmon for a perfect light meal.
