Ready for the oven
Ok this clearly isn’t a recipe, but I recently updated my approach to bacon and it’s life changing. By baking in the oven over a cooling rack, you get perfectly crispy bacon every single time. Plus, it’s less greasy since it isn’t sitting there frying in its fat (or, that’s what I tell myself).
If you aren’t already convinced that the oven is the superior way to cook your bacon, this method is hands off so you can spend time focusing on more important activities than bacon flipping/ grease dodging, like dicing potatoes for the Taters and Eggs that will obviously accompany your perfectly cooked bacon.

Perfect Oven Cooked Bacon
Create foolproof, perfectly crispy bacon in the oven with no greasy splatter. This hands-off method yields perfect bacon in under 30 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 Package thick-cut bacon I like the fancy stuff since I've convinced myself it's healthier, so check for doneness sooner if you use thinner cut bacon
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Place a cooling rack over a foil-lined baking sheet, and place bacon on the rack.
-
Bake for 15-25 minutes in the center of the oven, until you reach desired level of crispiness. Blot any excess grease with a paper towel.
Recipe Notes
Bacon pictured was cooked for 18 minutes.
If you don't have a cooling rack (and why don't you?! I use them for everything), bake the bacon directly on the foil-lined baking sheet. Check the bacon after 10 minutes as this method will cook the bacon faster.
This is a great idea! Thanks!
No more splatter screen!
