Peanut butter & jelly just got a facelift… and it’s figgin’ amazing. This Peanut Butter & Fig Toast borrows our favorite, familiar PB&J flavors, and elevates them to make a tired old sandwich feel new and sexy.
If you’ve checked out my other recipes, you know that I’m obsessed with deceptively easy cooking – recipes that seem like you put significantly more thought or effort into a meal than you actually did. This is one of those recipes.
While your bread is toasting, cut up a few figs. Spread nut butter of choice (PB or almond are my favorites) over the warm, toasty bread so that it gets melty and gooey. Arrange the figs on top, and then drizzle with honey and sprinkle with flakey sea salt. 10 minutes max, and you have the fanciest PB&J on Earth.
Peanut Butter & Fig Toast
This Peanut Butter & Fig Toast is the sexiest PB&J out there. Sub nut butter of choice for equally fantastic results.
- 2 slices bread of choice I used freshly baked sourdough
- peanut butter Nut butter of choice will also work well
- figs, thinly sliced Amount may vary depending on size of bread, but I used 4 figs as pictured
- Honey for drizzling
- Flakey sea salt, such as Maldon or Jacobsen
Lightly toast bread of choice.
While the bread is warm, spread with a generous amount of peanut butter (or nut butter of choice) so that it gets nice and melty.
Evenly arrange fig slices over the toast, and top with a drizzle of honey and a sprinkle of flakey sea salt.
