One bowl fudgy brownies

One bowl fudgy brownies - 30 minutes and one bowl is all you need for the fudgiest, most decadent brownies ever.

My mom bakes these brownies for pretty much every occasion. They are incredibly decadent and fudgy (aka total crowd pleasers). But more importantly, they are one bowl, come together in 30 minutes (start. to. finish.), and are literally foolproof. I used the wrong chocolate once and they still came out perfectly. There’s no secret ingredient or over-the-top baking situation here – just a simple, perfect fudgy brownie.

One bowl fudgy brownies

The easiest, fudgiest brownies - in one bowl. Never mess with the boxed stuff again.

Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 20 minutes
Total Time 30 minutes
Servings 16 brownies

Ingredients

  • 1 stick butter (I prefer salted - yup)
  • 2 (1 once, each) squares unsweetened baker's chocolate
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Melt the butter and chocolate in a medium saucepan over low heat.

  3. Remove from heat and mix in the sugar, flour, egg and vanilla.

  4. Pour batter into a greased and floured 8 or 9 inch square pan.

  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out almost clean.

  6. Cool slightly in the pan before removing.

Recipe Notes

"Brownies should be a bit under-cooked for maximum fudginess." - my mother, the sage.
